Spay / Neuter

At this moment there are an estimated 25 million dogs and cats that are unwanted across the Nation, and each year more than 14 million are euthanized because there is no loving home for them.

In Umatilla and Morrow counties, the story is the same, each year hundreds upon hundreds of pet animals are cast out to fend for themselves, mostly resulting in death by starvation, freezing, illness, or prey to wild animals. Even if they survive, homeless pet animals generally lead a miserable existence trying to find food and shelter, while searching for some compassionate soul to take them in.

All of this misery can be avoided through responsible pet ownership, so please spay or neuter your pet today to prevent any more unwanted animals having to suffer for survival.

Need $$$ to help Spay or Neuter?

PHS has received its 4th grant for helping low income families spay or neuter their companion dogs. This grant is in the amount of $10,000.   For our purposes we follow the Federal Poverty Income Levels to determine low income families. Stop in at the PHS office (at the Thrift Store) for an application. First come, first served.

If you qualify, a voucher will be mailed to you that you will use at a specified veterinarian within thirty days. If you have any questions, call the office at 276-0180 or 1-886-Humane1. (This grant is split into $3,000 for dogs under 44 pounds and $7,000 for dogs over 45 pounds.)

Previously, since 2003, we have received grants totaling $25000.00. These monies have helped to alter 433 animals. We are still looking for grant monies to help families with companion cats. At this time we don't have funds available but we are always willing to take donations to fund our spay/neuter account!!
